A lesson and funny story
For the first time, Emerald Frequency went to the open mic at B-Side tonight. You know, it's in the same building as the Grog Shop. It actually very much reminded me of the Grog Shop. Very, er...Grog-Shoppish. The mighty Xe-La was hostin' it. Good to see him again.
So there were 3 other acts on before us, right? They were all the jazzy blues-ee rockish sort of stuff i expected. Not bad, actually. Some good funky stuff goin' on. But that was the trouble: From what i could tell, that's what B-Side was. The place, the people and the music were all the jazzy blues-ee rockish thing, you know? So we (Emerald Frequency) were sitting there, starting to think that these very hip funky people would perhaps boo us off the stage. We didn't leave though.
Then it came time for us to perform. We did three songs (Lakes of Pontchartrain, Eppie Morrie and Stretch), and the more we performed the more we drew energy within ourselves. We pushed ourselves more than usual. I think for some points, i sounded more like Fiona Apple than what people are used to me sounding like. For both of us, we performed from our very souls, and played our hearts out. The audience loved us! More attention, applause, "woo"s and cheers than i remember hearing that whole evening. It was so funny, because like i noted before, we were most sure that they would hate us. I got that these were very cool people, and i knew i loved this place whether it loved me back or hated me, but you can imagine...it wasn't what we were expecting.
Many thank-yous to the folks who were there tonight. I'm glad you enjoyed us, and i imagine that we will be back.
P.S.
Right on: Great to hear of other Bitch and Animal fans!

Real P.S.
You know...we really like to play out. It's a passion of ours. Emerald Frequency likes the word "gigs". It makes us smile. So, o good fans of ours, if you have the power to get us a gig of any sort, we would eternally love ya for it! Not to sound desperate, but we're still workin' on getting the name out. Unluckily, many places won't hire lesser known bands, so getting your name out isn't as easy as you think.
